In Loving Memory of Robert James Adams (1942–2025)

Dear Valued Clients,

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our founder, Robert James Adams, affectionately known as “The Bill Slayer.” Robert passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, just two days before what would have been his 83rd birthday.

Since founding Robert J. Adams & Associates, Inc. in 1976, Robert dedicated nearly five decades to helping individuals and families through financial hardship. A proud graduate of Northwestern University and Kent College of Law, Robert was a pioneer in bankruptcy law and one of the founding members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). He was honored with its Lifetime Achievement Award for his tireless service and lasting impact on the legal community.

Robert was a passionate advocate, a devoted father and husband, and a loyal friend. His commitment to justice, his sharp wit, and his compassionate approach changed countless lives — and that legacy will live on through those he mentored and served.

 Continued Legal Services

All firm operations remain active and uninterrupted.

We are committed to continuing Robert’s legacy of compassionate and professional legal care.

The firm is now led by Robert’s daughter, Tina Adams, known as “The Bankruptcy Queen,” who has worked full-time at the firm since 1993. Tina has long carried forward her father’s mission of providing compassionate legal guidance to clients in need.

Also continuing his long-standing role is Attorney Brian C. Pedersen, who has served alongside Robert since 1986. Brian remains a key part of the team, with decades of experience in consumer bankruptcy law.
